Support
Throughout our deployments, we work hard to ensure that our solutions deliver the maximum business value. To do this it is vital that the final solution is delivered in a way that ensures user self-sufficiency with the application. If our mentoring is successful, you should not need to call upon us, or your technical IT staff, for normal application maintenance.
BMA gives your team hands-on experience in designing, developing and deploying performance management solutions. Once a solution has been implemented, BMA won’t supply you with a novice consultant who has an impressive business degree and little else.
Our consultants have real-world business and significant IBM Cognos experience. As such, we’ve encountered and addressed multiple scenarios that may be new for your team and can guide you through any issue you may encounter. We support your specific IBM Cognos application and can assist in specific trouble-shooting and ad hoc development.
After implementation, we provide the following support services:
Ad hoc support
- Telephone, email or in-person support for your staff when they are unable to resolve issues or problems themselves and the application is not functionally optimally.
- Technical advice and guidance relating to your IBM Cognos environment and its software.
Ad hoc development
Our process is fluid and flexible, and we believe that as solutions develop, and your business changes, ongoing refinement helps to keep you on track and maintain a tight hold on information and process truth and efficiency.
Through ad hoc development, we provide support to help you to make minor changes and enhancements to your system.
Application health checks
BMA’s staff can monitor and manage the ‘health’ of your IBM Cognos environment for optimal effectiveness. As part of this service, we provide a structured and detailed technical review of your software application, in order to address specific issues such as bottlenecks, new releases, and general housekeeping.
Training
BMA believes that the best form of training for your staff is to be actively involved throughout the implementation of your solution. This is a hands-on approach that teaches members of your team about the intricacies of the software, and how to build and maintain the environment once our consultants have left. We therefore recommend that you dedicate resources to any implementation to lay a solid foundation for the future development of all aspects of your specific IBM Cognos applications.
In addition, BMA provides further training at two levels:
Authorised IBM training
BMA is an authorised IBM training reseller. This provides your users with access to official world-class IBM training across the breadth of all IBM products. It is generic, instructor-led training that is held at multiple locations and dates throughout the year on a variety of products and topics.
If your company is interested in learning about a new or existing IBM product or wishes to extend its competency levels on a particular IBM product, please contact us for more information.

IBM now also offer a number of self-paced virtual courses (SPVCs). These are online courses, which deliver the same content, exercises and hands-on labs as classroom courses, all from the comfort of your desk with the flexibility to train when you want to. In addition to no fixed schedules or travel requirements, SPVCs are cheaper than the equivalent classroom course. A full range of Cognos (and other) SPVCs can be found by clicking here.
Customised on-site training
BMA offers one-on-one training for issues specific to your company's IBM Cognos system design and build, customised to your company's needs.
An experienced BMA consultant will spend quality time with your nominated staff members, teaching them how to handle processes unique to your company, and how to do different things within your particular application. We impart our ‘real world’ experience and in-depth industry knowledge to help you provide potential solutions to existing corporate challenges.
